Music Department Manager

Starting September 2025

The Music Department is a vibrant and inspiring environment with a particular emphasis upon practical music making. The Music Department Manager is a unique role in our organisation created to provide management, support and attendance at all music and music related events and provision under the direction of the Artistic Director, as well as being responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Music Department including support for the Artistic Director, the full time music department staff and all Visiting Music Teachers (VMTs).

 

The core working hours for the role are 40 hours per week, term time (33 weeks): Monday - Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm, with a one-hour lunch break, plus six weeks in holiday periods. Furthermore, additional hours are likely to be required to ensure attendance at the MCCS Sunday concerts, together with attendance at other music events, e.g. major orchestral concerts, RAM concert, Sinfonia Smith Square residency weekend, recitals, Choral Society concert, Jazz evening, scholar events etc.    These will be confirmed in advance with the Artistic Director.

 

The successful candidate will:

 

  • Have a wealth of managerial and administrative experience
  • Ideally possess experience in an arts and/or education setting
  • Have a flexible attitude as well as being proactive and happy to work independently.
  • Have a methodical and organised approach to tasks with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
